The day of the exhibition opening a sign hung amongst the other works with the following text: "The artist will arrive at 21:14 to share a kiss with whomever wishes to participate". Underneath it, two circles on the floor connected by a line labelled two spots: one for the artist and one for the other person participating in the kiss. Visitors could enjoy the other pieces and a performance by Analía (full list of artists below) while the mysterious texts generated certain expectation. At 21:14 I arrived, took off the sign and placed myself on my circle, where I stood until the closing of the space that night. Whoever, however, could step in the circle activating the piece, we would meet at the center of the line that connected us to share a kiss.

Shy kisses, passionate kisses, friendly, bashful, educated, funny, slow, fast. On the mouth, on the hand, on the cheek. Even a kiss-phone and a kiss hidden in a slap. The visitors doubted between watching or participating, how to approach their kiss or escape from the pressure of an intimate moment in a room full of people.

I prepared this piece specially for A través del cuerpo (Through the body), a collective exhibition curated by Ignacio Chávarri and Olivia Prieto at Mediodía Chica, Madrid.

For the final day of the exhibition, I presented a limited edition of 63 zines documenting the piece with photos, texts and statistics. There are still copies!

I'd like to perform the piece in further occasions changing parameters to study the participation of different audiences under different circumstances surrounding the work. My disposition, my image, the place, the context, the presentation of the piece...

The artists participating in the exhibition were Analía Beltrán i Janés, Ben Roberts, Christian Fernández Mirón, Claremi, Elvira Palazuelos, Fernando Clemente, Hélène Bergaz, José Delgado Periñán, Javialcuadrado, José Manuel Hortelano-Pi, María Salán, Pablo Rodríguez Barreiro, Sanja Lasic, Luis Lasso, Lucas Bolaño and Un Mundo Feliz.
